Elaborate & medieval-looking first letters on pages of books, what is this called?

Sometimes in books, the first letters of the pages are in an individual square and very elaborate and arty. I was wondering if anyone knew what this is called (if there is a term for it) and where I could find examples of these letters (i'm specifically after the letter T). Any help would be much appreciated :]
