I'm looking for a particular Anime where the main character is an anti-hero type who travels on a flying ship?

I vaguely remember seeing it on SBS years ago, and it was a fairly dark, arty sort of anime, where (in the one episode I saw) the main character is travelling in a flying ship or boat thing, with this little girl, and they travel to some castle place (maybe it was ruins?) and come across a villain who has like some weird hair attack where the hair is like long blades or lasers. Dammit curse my useless memory! Please help me! (I think the main character has some kind of special ability, or isn't really human, or something).
