My partner was attacked and kicked in the head?

On sunday night my partner was fighting with a guy that resulted in the guy poking him (my partner) in the eyes! That resulted in my partner ending up on the floor while the two guys viciously kicked and stomped on his eye! Resulting in a broken hand as my partner had his hands up to cover his face. Luckily the police caught the guys as we all knew them and saw them do it! What charge will they get for stomping and kicking him in the head and braking his hand? While high on steroids and drink!
